FAQs

How will my donation be spent?

We are not-for profit which means that we give our time for free at Food2Think so that most of the monies donated goes to the Gayatri Devi Basic school to support our school lunch programme. There are unavoidable costs for the general running it the charity such as bank and website charges.

How do you know that the money is being directed correctly?

The money we raise is transferred to a designated school bank account that must be countersigned by three members of staff. All expenditures are recorded and regularly checked by a Food2Think representative based in Nepal.

How can I help?

You could spread the word and encourage other people to make one off, or regular donations. Additionally, you could do some fundraising in your community, workplace or place of education. Please let us know if you need help with this, including promotional material and even an in person talk!

Are donations eligible for Gift Aid?

We are in the process of setting this up with HMRC.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a scheme available to charities. It means they can claim extra money from HMRC. A charity can claim Gift Aid when you make a monetary donation from your own funds and have paid UK Income and / or Capital Gains Tax during that tax year. The charity can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate. That means Gift Aid can increase the value of your donations by 25%.
